Our London experiance was very interesting. After arriving at the airport we made our way to the "Tube"/subway. Our first time ever getting on one. We were helped by a very nice English man who told us which station to switch at and what we would most enjoy seeing in our short time in the city. We ended up going to the Parliment Building. Wow what amazing building. It is so BIG and super tall with really neat gargoyales and interesting little elements that made the building super unique and nothing we could ever describe. Will post pictures later. We also saw Big Ben. Which is a super tall clock at the Parliment Building.
One thing we never expected or prepared for in London was that we would have to pay to use the toilet. Guess what the toilet takes coins not credit cards. So we had to wander to find a restraunt to eat at so we could us the toilet. Jim and Hailey are fish and chips fans so they chose that for lunch. It is definatley tastier in the US. We wandered a little and just looked at stuff. We then took the subway back to the airport and were ready to depart for our next flight to Toulouse, France.
Our plane was delayed due to technical difficulties. Did they really think we were going to get on that plane even if they said they had fixed it? They got a differant plane and we finally arrived in Toulouse, just an hour and a half later, but we made it. Jim's dad was at the airport waiting for us. So we didn't have to find our own way. Off to there house we went.
Omg. These people drive like a bunch of crazies. The roads are really narrow, lots of roundabouts and they drive so fast you can't possibly look at anything. Tucker actually got car sickness yesterday even with his motion sickness patch on. Hopefully it won't be so bad today because we are driving further.
After we got to their house we were wide awake again. Our kids were hungry so we found some snacks in the fridge. Snacks, no the best thing we have ever eaten. Frois Grois! it is duck liver patae'. So good. And some of the best sausage we have ever had too. Then off to bed.
The next moring we took off for the heart of Toulouse. A beautiful city. We went into the city center and walked around. We had our first French coffee and took in all the culture. After spending a good couple of hours with the girls in the shops and the guys at a pub-which Tucker enjoyed very much we made our way back towards the house stopping off for groceries and dinner. The pub we went to for dinner is place where they speak english. Yes we could finally converse after all day trying to communicate. The food was so good. Not your normal captains plate, something so much better. And we tried a Scotch Egg. Its hard boiled egg with a sausage wrapped around it and fried. So yummy.
Our sleep is totally out of wack and we all didn't sleep very well last night, but we can nap today while we drive to the Med. We are all so excited about this road trip. We will be there for 2 days. Can't wait to get there.
